Templates & Design

17 templates, full typography/color control, and a one-click page-fit optimizer.

The template gallery offers 17 real templates: Classic, Modern, Technical, Professional, Executive, Minimal, Academic, Elegant, Startup, Creative, Student, Technical Compact, Editorial, Timeline, and Ivory are all single-column and ATS-safe; Sidebar Slate and Sidebar Warm are genuine two-column layouts, marked not ATS-safe because a two-column layout can scramble reading order for parsing software. Seven templates (Modern, Startup, Creative, Student, Sidebar Slate, Sidebar Warm, and one more photo-capable design) support a profile photo — photos are deliberately left off the other ten, since a photo can hurt ATS parsing.

When you'd use this

Picking a look that matches your industry (Academic for research roles, Startup/Creative for design-forward companies, Classic/Professional for conservative fields).
Fine-tuning font, spacing, and color to make a resume feel distinctly yours without touching layout code.
Forcing a resume that runs slightly long back onto exactly one or two pages without manually trimming content.
Switching into ATS-safe mode before submitting to an applicant tracking system that's known to be strict about formatting.

How it works

    Choose a template

    Pick one from the gallery when creating a resume, or change it later from the editor. Badges on each swatch show Premium, ATS-safe, and Two-column status up front.

    Open the Design panel

    In the editor's right-hand panel, switch to the "Design" tab (alongside AI and ATS).

    Adjust typography and layout

    Set Font (Template default / Sans-serif / Serif / Modern sans / Monospace), Size (Compact 10pt / Standard 11pt / Comfortable 12pt), Line height (Tight / Standard / Relaxed), Section spacing (Compact 10px / Standard 16px / Spacious 24px), and Page margins (Narrow 24px / Standard 36px / Wide 48px — note: margins don't affect the two sidebar-column templates).

    Adjust style

    Set an accent color (color picker or hex input), a Heading style (Template default / Plain / Uppercase / Bordered), and a Bullet style (Template default / Disc / Dash / Arrow / Square).

    Turn on ATS-safe mode

    Flip the ATS-safe-mode switch to reset any risky style choices back to defaults — it actually clears your font/heading/bullet overrides rather than just hiding the controls, so you know exactly what you're submitting.

    Fit to a page count

    Still in the Design panel, check your current page count, then click "Fit to 1 page" or "Fit to 2 pages." The optimizer tightens section spacing first, then page margins, then font size (down to a 9.5pt floor) — always re-rendering a real PDF to count pages, never estimating. If it genuinely can't fit, it shows up to 3 of your longest bullets as trim suggestions instead of silently cutting your content.
