Cover Letters

Generate a draft cover letter grounded in your Career Profile, a resume, and a specific job.

Cover letter generation builds its draft from your (non-private) Career Profile facts, an optional resume, and an optional saved job — combined with a tone and length you choose — into a single AI Gateway call. Like every other AI feature, the result is a suggestion you review before it becomes the letter's actual content.

When you'd use this

Producing a first draft instead of starting from a blank page for each application.
Matching a cover letter's tone to a company's culture (e.g. "confident" for a sales role, "friendly" for a startup).
Generating a letter that's explicitly grounded in a specific job posting's language and requirements.

How it works

  1. 1

    Start a new cover letter

Click "New cover letter" and fill in the dialog: an optional Resume, an optional target Job, a Tone (professional / confident / executive / friendly / concise), and a Length (short / standard / custom).

  2. 2

    Generate

Click "Generate." The draft comes back as a proposed suggestion, not saved content yet.

  3. 3

    Review the draft

On the letter's page, use Reject, Edit, or Accept — while editing, the Accept button relabels to "Save & accept."

  4. 4

    Export

Click "Export PDF" to generate a downloadable PDF of the finished letter.

Good to know

  • Export is PDF only from the UI right now — the backend actually supports DOCX export too, but there's no DOCX button wired up yet.
  • A single-paragraph "regenerate just this paragraph" action exists on the backend but isn't hooked up to any button in the UI yet — regeneration currently means generating the whole letter again.
